Our scholarship fund was established in 2013.  The deadline for the 2015 scholarship is April 17, 2015.



The Ozone Chapter of MOAA awards educational scholarships to deserving students who are

pursuing or plan to pursue undergraduate or graduate studies at an accredited institution of

higher education. An applicant’s permanent residence must be in St Tammany, Tangipahoa, or

Washington Parish, Louisiana. Applications are considered without regard to race, color, creed

or gender by a selection board comprised of retired and/or active duty commissioned officers of

the uniformed services.


Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis to high school seniors who are members of

their school’s JROTC program AND will be attending a military service academy or a college

ROTC program. Each JROTC unit within St Tammany, Tangipahoa, and Washington Parish

may select one senior cadet meeting the outlined criteria and submit that cadet for consideration

for this scholarship. Consideration is given to an applicant’s Grade Point Average (GPA), ACT

Score, the “whole person” as reflected by participation in extracurricular activities both at school

and in the community, educational pursuits, leadership positions, JROTC & school awards/

recognition and a required essay.


Application submissions must be prepared electronically, printed and submitted along with the

other supporting documentation.

Completed applications must be postmarked not later than April 17, 2015. An application that

is postmarked after that date or an application that is incomplete will not be considered by the

selection board.
